Marathon for ECEF: Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation

My amazing brother, Jeff, has found and helped set up the Baton Rouge Beach Marathon going on this December.

As most of you know, I lost my dad on Oct 31 last year due to a 6 week diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer. He lived only one month after he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the esophagus. The terrible thing about this disease is that usually by the time it is diagnosed it is already at stage 3.

So now he is training for this marathon and blogging about this journey which you can see here. My family lives in Baton Rouge, LA... and so the marathon will be taking place there on December 3, 2011. I am so proud of how strong my family is with God, and am so blessed to have a brother who is taking such a huge step in honor of our Dad.

I am posting a link below to the website where you can read more about this, and also it is set up for donations. We are hoping to raise about $3,000 for this non-profit organization and 100% of funds will go to the ECEF program.

My prayer is that this will make an impact and help others who are facing this terrible fast-spreading disease or have family facing it, because my family with five children, one being only 12 years old had to go through it ourselves.

Here is the link to learn more about this foundation and marathon.

Love you Daddy... this is for you.

  3. Wow, that is awesome. I always say one day I will run a marathon ... or at least half. So far that "one day" hasn't happened. Good luck to your brother!
