Weekend to Ourselves

It is unusual for us to have an entire weekend of R & R, as we are usually jam packed with events one or the other of us has to attend, etc. Like coming up in August, besides the first weekend, we're out of town the other 3! First I'm attending a bachlorette weekend in San Antonio, the next he is attending a men's bachlorette getaway (same couple!) and third, Scott's leaving town for the weekend with his buddy to do their hometown Fantasy Football draft. By September we are going to need a couple getaway fo-sho.

So this weekend was so perfect for us to spend one on one. We started off right, too! On Friday, we celebrated my brother's baller week at work by having some drinks at third base, and I beat everyone at Big Buck Hunter! I am pretty sure I look ridiculous reloading my gun every time I shoot anything at all, I look like a mad woman haha. It is such a fun game though!

We watched some movies and passed out early only for Scottie to wake up at 9am on Saturday morning (wayy early for him!) and invite me to a cafe breakfast at the 620 Cafe in Round Rock. Ohh, I love this place! I treated myself to a chocolate milk and we had some fun laughs remembering the last time I came here and accidently ordered something with mushrooms, ewwwww. This time it was much better. Our hungry bellies are the reason why there was no photo of this :(.

We continued our day and decided not to go home, but to go shopping at the outlets close by!

Ralph Lauren had a huge sale going on, so it was Scott's lucky day. He is the kind of guy that dresses up on casual Friday. You'll never find him in basketball shorts or a tshirt at work, always a button down with jeans/cargoshorts on casual day or fully dressed. He scored a new belt, tie, three new shirts, and 2 pairs of shoes at the outlets and spent under $200!

I am in in this "must save for a house" mode, so lately when I've been shopping I've been stopping myself from buying really anything as I am in full house-fever mode and want to save every penny. It'll still be a while, but we've been sending each other many houses we both like :-).

Huxley has been sleeping in our bed pretty much his whole life, but we decided over the weekend after being completely smushed together for months, that until we get a King, Huxley needs to sleep in his own bed - this little muffins sprawls out in between us leaving us hanging off the bed hah.

I think he loves it... it even matches our bedding!

We stopped by redbox on the way home knowing we'd probably have a horror movie night and eat popcorn and snug up on the couch, but I could not have been LESS impressed with this movie...... "The Intruders" ... buhhhhh so weird! We ended up turning it off to watch DVR as we had recorded Something About Mary, Enemy of the State, and 21. All great movies!

Friday I picked up these gorgeous crosses down South for only $10! What a steal! I cannot wait to start really decorating our little home and a little cross wall is just what we need!

Earlier Friday during the day, I had a little lunch date with our office Manager, Sharon, who is about 70 years old and the funniest lady, I love working with her! We get caught up in the most random conversations and she tells the best stories. Makes the work day very quick and easy. :-) Well, we chose this new place in walking distance to our office that just replaced Bennigans, and as much as I wanted to like it so much, I was not impressed, the food was really bland.

We ordered the Fish Tacos and the Capri Salad and split both entrees. These two entrees are some of which I order at multiple restaurants to see how they compare, who has the better one, etc. We even got the fish blackened, and it still had no flavor. It was almost like everything tasted the same, has that ever happened to you?? Meh. I was, however, impressed with the furniture and ambiance of the restaurant. Very sports-like with TVs everywhere, and the bar top tables and regular dining tables, they looked pretty expensive dark brown wood. The service was also pretty good. Would I go there agian? Eh. Probably not with all the amazing restaurants in Austin to choose from.

Soo.. funny coincidence that our #1 house we are looking at is on a street named "Huxley Ln"... Even though we don't have NEAR enough to put down 20% on a house at the moment, Scott is seriously considering pulling some strings, but we will see! It's so hard that the market is so great right now, but we just don't have the money we need quite yet. We are about to start buckling down hard. I'm so excited!

What did everyone else do this weekend!?

Life Lately via Instagram/IPhone

Anyone else feel like this week has flown by!? Maybe it's because I've been so busy work-wise this week going to trainings off site and meetings, but I am lovin' it! Happy Friday to you all!

Thank you all for your comments yesterday about the Cupcakes I should make for my office. Now, my office only consists of about 5 people (including myself - our other 4 employees work remotely from home in 4 different states!) but thank you, I can't wait to post about my baking experience since I have never really gotten into it before too much besides cookies.

Same thing with crafting, I'm itching to buy a cheap dresser and re do it, and I found one on craigslist this morning for only $20! Might go pick it up :-) Now those that know me know I am not a good crafter, but I also have never really tried to craft. With over 120 something pins about DIY projects, I'm thinking I should give it a shot.

I have some fun random instagrams throughout this week so I thought I'd share!

Trip to see Raelyn

Morning, friends! Hope you all had a blast yesterday, and for those that worked - hope you had a fun night! We left directly after work on Tuesday evening to go visit with Scott's sister, Helen, her hubby Jonas, and cute little 6 month old Raelyn.

They live in way Southeast Texas around the Lufkin/Beaumont area, and it took about 4 hours. I love these little road trips because Texas is just gorgeous with all of the lakes, rivers, and trees.

A lot of you asked me to make sure I snap some cute pictures and videos, and I sure did! We took Huxley with us, and he was SO sweet with Raelyn, the only thing we even had to ask him to do is to stop kissin' her so much! hehe I am glad to know he loves babies/kids!

Raelyn is still learning how to crawl right now, but she is just the happiest baby. Always smiling!

Doesn't this picture make your heart melt!? Oh and by the way, the adorable headband pictured on her was made by Mrs. Mallorie Owens - and I've gotten a few headbands from her for Raelyn and my little Annalee (who is the 5 month old of our best friends). They are SO cute, high quality, and comfortable for the girls. You all need to check out her shop right hurr and get some for yourself or other cute babies you know:

Anyway, we spent the fourth just lying around the house, chatting, had some watermelon, made a 5 cheese lasagna, and watched movies - and watched Raelyn and Huxley play :-)

Oh, and did I mention how sweeeeeeeeeet it is to see Scottie with his little niece? He is so cute around babies. Scott's family has called him "bubba" since he was practically born, and he was on cloud 9 since Raelyn's first "word" right now is saying "bubba"... gosh I tried to get it on video but you know how babies are- they only do it when you look away/shut off the cam haha. It was so adorable though!

We drove back to Austin around 5pm, so as we were getting into town we saw fireworks everywhere! One of the many things I love about Scott is that he is SO fun to road trip with, he is always jammin out or singin his own version of something, he is teasing me or makin me laugh, it is just a great time and makes the trip go by super fast.

It was a fun fouth. Happy birthday America!

Peanut Butter & Carrot Puppy Cupcakes

Friday, we celebrated my little Huxley's 1st Birthday. I initially was attempting to make a cake for him at first, but why not make smaller portions almost in bite size treats for him instead!? He didn't mind..... in fact he barely could take his eyes off these delish muffins when I was snappin' pics... hehe

As you can tell, Huxley was swooning over the yummy smell and couldn't wait to plant his whole face in the plate! I highly recommend this all-natural treat for your pup, and it was super simple to make. So I'm postin' the recipe for all you fur-moms that love pampering your little chunk of cuteness like I do.

Peanut Butter & Carrot Puppy Cupcakes

Ingredients:
1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup all natural peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix together flour and baking soda
3. Add remaining ingredients and mix well
4. Pour mixture into a 12 cupcake cups in non-stick muffin pan (or  you can spray w/ veg oil)
5. Bake for 30 minutes (they will brown but you can use a toothepick in center to make sure its cooked)
6. Let cool for about 5-10 minutes.

Note: I initially was going to top these with low-fat cottage cheese and decorate with some leftover carrot pieces - but Huxley had enough waiting so we skipped straight to the eatin' part! :-)

Huxley absolutely LOVED these little cupcakes! Although Scott & my brother thought it was a little silly to make a dog food/birthday cake (and blow out a candle w/ him hehe) - I love spoiling my little fur-muffin in any way that I can. :-)

Do you make treats for your puppy?
What kind of all-natural dog recipes do you love to make?

Bittersweet Weekend

This past weekend for us has been bittersweet as Maddie's 3 week Summer Vacation came to an end (me driving 8 hours yesterday and being sad that last 4 by myself!), Huxley's 1st birthday (thank you for all the sweet birthday wishes!) and some official great news!

Our road-trip to Winnie, TX to meet halfway with my mom and her hubby. Boooooo!

We were having lunch at the ONLY restaurant in Winnie, TX and I got a text from my boo saying he officially received his offer letter for a HUGE promotion at Dell and he starts June 30th!!!!!!!!
We all Cheers'ed to my sweet man! So proud of him!

Last night as much as we miss Maddie, we were so happy to just be alone at home together, and the LION King was on!! This was my fav Disney movie growing up. On the way home, I had picked up a bottle of champagne so we could toast to this new amazing opportunity Scott has! The rest of the night we relaxed and were conked out by 11!

How was everyone's weekend????

Happy Birthday Huxley!

Huxley is 1 yrs old!!!!

We picked Huxley up at 10 weeks old from Bastrop, TX
He was the most independent and playful pup out of the bunch
His parents are Champion Breed Showdogs that were in amazing health and shape
He introduced himself to us by nipping at Scottie's toe trying to play with us

We knew he was our boy.

& from that first day, we fell in love.

He is the most well-behaved and fun puppy I've ever known.
He will sit and lay down, still learning to "paw" and "other paw"
He runs in circles when he hears "Huxley, are you huuungry?"
He never barks, whines, yelps, but has the cutest somewhat of a "Slingblade" groan/moan all the time
Huxley has taught us the true meaning unconditional love
He sleeps in our bed every night - and snores as loud as Scott does
He is the king of the "Head Cock" when you talk to him
He destroys Tennis Balls, but takes care of his plush toys
His favorite toy is his tricky treat (dispenses treats as he plays with it)
He loves Peanut Butter All-Natural Doggie treats that mommy makes from scratch
He is like a true "son"/child to us.

We couldn't imagine our lives without this little man.

We are the proudest fur-parents, and love you sooo much, Hux! :-)

Weekend in Pictures

Our weekend practically started Friday as we didn't have much going on at work. Maddie and I started the morning off right with a cup of coffee and netflix'ed a random scary Shark Movie that ended up being quite the ridiculous movie.

For lunch we decided to hit up another Austin Iconic Restaurant, Shady Grove! Maddie got the famous Chicken Fried Steak, and I opted for a Grilled Chiken Sandwich. It was heavenly, and Maddie left with a TShirt that sad Shady Grove on front and "Keep Austin Weird" on back. :-)

When we got home we definitely had nothing but RUNNING in mind after eating all of that delicious food!! So we leashed Huxley up and headed out! We ran about 3 miles around our neighborhood and then next to my home we stopped by a little park. You can tell by the pics Huxley had a great time! He even went down the slide! His face is soo funny in the slide pics.

Saturday was pretty lazy, we got some cleaning done around the house and just chilled out as Saturday night was going to be a late one! Around 730 we went to go watch the Heat play and have a brewskie! Now, I'm not a HUGE Heat fan ( I like watching them though!) but I really want OKC to win! Now that they are teamed up against each other I cannot WAIT for the Championship!!!!

Saturday night after the game we went to our good friends house to listen to their band play and have a few drinks. Umm has anyone heard of Fruit Loop Three Olives Vodka? Not bad! :) It was so fun and we got home around 2am where Scott went directly to bed and I stayed up with Maddie watching "Walk Hard" - funniest movie!!

Here is a little Video Clip - he is SO talented! He works with Scott @ Dell. I love going to little Dell parties so I can see all of my friends again! I miss everyone from Dell but I just loooove my new job so much!

Sunday was a bit of a hungover/tired day. We streamed Church to our TV from online, then laid around for a few more hours until finally we got up and headed to see our little step-brother Colin and have a little late birthday celebration. Colin is so cute and animated, I didn't snap too many pics, but I did get some good ones with his cake and a little video of his face landing straight into it. :-)

His video of his face in the cake.... lol!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Anyone do anything exciting!?

Monday Randoms

Hey, friends! Hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend! There was so much going on here in Austin with the Derby, Pecan Festival, Lonestar Jam, and just Cinco de Mayo in general!

Soo my first week at my new job has been truly a blessing how great it was! A lot of software training and talking with the CEO daily on things I should know, also reading a book called, "The E Myth Revisited", by Michael Gerber. It's actually a really great book if you are a small business owner! I have resonated with a lot in the book and I know that if you own an etsy shop or even a small business locally - this book is a great read with great advice!

Friday we had some plans fall through, so ended up taking it easy and watching some movies. Huxley was not complainin about some good ole R&R time!

I got my business phone in, and it's going to take some time to get used to an android!? I have had an iphone4 for about 4 months now and I finally just got used that that! haha Oh and if you're with AT&T, don't try to port your number over to your Business phone because they want to charge $285(!?!?) Insane..

It's a Samsung Glaxy SII Epic 4g Touch? Anyone have one? What do you think???!

This afternoon, I'll be taking my very first ever Business trip! It probably sounds silly on how excited I am!! My boss and I will be carpooling to Dallas together and our conference will be at a nice hotel downtown called the Hilton Anatole.. I'll be there til Thursday to meet all of my vendors, clients, and do a few trainings... Tonight they're having a "Mad Men" themed party to break the ice and so there will be poker, martinis, scotch, etc! I can't wait, should be a fun few days of work (didn't know those two words could be used in the same sentence before)!!

Yesterday after Church I got to witness a dear friend's husband get baptised and several others...it was very powerful and moving to see so many people pubically give themselves to the Lord and forgive their sins... To read more and see some pictures, check out Ruthie's post today about her hubby. So moving!

Scott now has to work on Sundays so it's nice to have people I know at Church to connect with. Saw two girls from Small group and the sermon was just perfect for me. You always know it's a moving experience in Church when you are crying by the end! I think what got me is this girl I've never heard sing before did the last song as David Crowder's "How he loves..." Ohh man. She was great.

Spent most of yesterday afternoon doing laundry, packing for this trip, and watching some re runs of one of my favs, Law and Order. (SVU of course!) This is actualy one of Huxley's new favorite shows...

Hope you all get a good laugh out of Huxleys obsession with this episode with the dry erase board! LOL I could not stop laughing I replayed this like 4 times before even recording it...

Happy Monday! Will be bloggin' from D town tomorrow!!
