Today is the birthday of my dad who recently passed away. Sometimes it's hard to think it's already been almost 9 months, but I can't tell you how happy I am that this year instead of in pain, he is with God and he's watching over my siblings and me... keeping us safe, and everyday I do the best I can to make him proud.
Last year, for my dad's birthday, my sister Maddie and I decorated his crazy old '98 Chevy Suburban with that painting spray, confetti, and crazy string spray while he was at work late in the day, and when we saw him walking towards his truck we hid, and when as he approached (already with wide eyes - as he's super old fashioned and probably didn't know what to think reading "Honk if you think my truck is sexy!" lol) we jumped out and surprised him. Besides scaring him half to death, he felt so so blessed and grateful that we went out of our way to make sure his birthday was absolutely precious. I WISH I had pictures! :(
Happy 1st Birthday in Heaven...
To the man that finally got his first daughter after two crazy boys were almost grown...
The man who got two girls and absolutely made them his world every day...
The man who held my feet to the fire and made me who I am today...
The man who took me out on the golf course with him and showed me how to play his favorite sport... (even though I'm still terrible lol)
The man who still smiled and cooked amazing meals for seven years while he could not find a job and had to have been so upset with himself...
The man who spent most of his free time working for St. Vincent de Paul helping raise money for our Church and for charities everywhere...
The man who made me watch every Sci Fi movie probably ever made...
The man who LOVED musicals more than I did... Chicago was his absolute favorite
The man who tickles RELENTLESSLY...
The man who rented a 1200 sq. ft apartment making $12hr just so he had a huge place for all of his kids to stay whenever they wanted to...
The man who when everyone else had doubted me in my worst days, always had faith in me and never said anything but that he loved me and was proud of me...
The man who's eyes lit up every time I walked into the room...
The man who loved his family with absolutely everything that he was...
The man I am so so lucky to have had as a father...
The man I think about every single day all day, and strive to be everything I can be with all the advice and lessons he's taught me my whole life...
I love you so much Daddy and miss you more every day.
“The lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
